Hello Northminster Families,

We are excited to tell you Northminster Preschool will be opening September 8th for the Fall 20/21 school year. We have dearly missed you and we have been working diligently behind the scenes to make sure we will have a successful and safe reopening.

With the regulations that are required from the CDC and Licensing we have made some changes to the structure of Northminster's day and how we plan on following their guidelines to keep our staff and your children safe.  

Please read the attached document which thoroughly explains what new policies will be in place when the teachers and children return to school. 

This has been a challenging time for all of us and as excited as we are to reopen we have to look at the health, safety and well-being of everyone on campus.  At this time, due to the new regulations from both the CDC and Licensing, we have had to change our hours to 8:30am-2:00pm.  We understand some of you may still need full time care and that is why I am sending you this letter in July so you have time to decide if you can continue with us in the Fall. In the future, as we navigate through the changing guidelines, we may be able to return to full time care.  

Our teachers are anxious to get back in the classrooms, ready to love, guide and teach your children. The staff is excited to see you. If any changes occur before our opening date we will be sure to inform you as soon as possible.

Closure due to COVID-19

We just received notice the San Diego Unified School District will be closed from March 16th- April 3rd, due to the Corona virus outbreak.  In light of these circumstances we will be closing as well.   As of right now our plan is to reopen on April 6th at our normal time.  Due to this closure being considered a natural disaster, no refunds will be given at this time.  We will reevaluate this situation if we are unable to open as scheduled on April 6th.  We want to do what is best for our students and their families, our staff and the community.  

Going forward with the month of April, all tuition payments will be suspended. If Northminster decides to open back up in the month of April and going forward the prorated tuition will be due upon opening of the school. Ongoing we are planning to have our Summer session and our Fall program.

You may have heard that some preschools are still open. As of right now licensing has left this to each preschool's discretion. With the current recommendation being less than 50 people in a gathering I cannot in good conscience open our doors because we do not have the staff for proper cleaning or screening of illness. If a case were to happen we would have to immediately close our doors again.

I know this causes extreme hardship however I have your children's wellbeing at heart along with my employees and their families.  We will be updating our Parent Resources page on our website, please check back often for new craft projects and other services. 

Unfortunately none of us knows what the immediate future holds for the schools, our community or our country. Your support, continued patience, understanding and flexibility during these difficult times are greatly appreciated.

Dear Northminster Parents and Friends:

We are transitioning from the month of Love to Spring and that cute little green man who comes to visit.  

The Parent Group meeting will be Friday, March 13, 2020 at noon.  We would love for you to come and see how you can be a part of Northminster Preschool’s Parent Group for next year.  Free lunch bunch for your child enrolled if you attend the meeting!

We will have Irish Dancer’s visit on March 16th and March 17th, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in Congdon Hall for our March enrichment program.  This program is courtesy of the parent group fundraising. Parents are welcome to attend!


On Tuesday, March 6th we will be having a dine and donate at Blaze Pizza, from 5:00-9:00pm.  We will hand out and email flyers the week before. This is a simple way to help out Northminster Preschool.

Chapel with Pastor Jay will be Tuesday, March 3rd and Wednesday March 4th in the sanctuary at 9:30 a.m.  Parents are welcome to attend!

Also, a reminder that spring break starts on Monday, March 30th and runs through April 3rd. with school re-opening on Monday, April 6th at 7:30 a.m.  


Our Boon Supply Fundraiser (formerly known as Mixed Bags) starts Monday, March 9th. Last year we were able to raise over $2,000 for our outside bathroom remodel fund.  Please feel free to ask family and friends to participate in this fundraiser. Boon Supply stands by all the products they sell. There will be a way for family and friends to participate online if they live out of town. Orders will be due in the office by Tuesday, March 25th.
